More InformationThe "Fishing Band" as they are affectionately known, the Thursday Night Fishing Club has a long history than began in Southern California with a band called the Dorados. Founded by songwriters Gary Shiebler and Larry Robinson, their first release in 2000, "Hooked on Hookin' Up", remains a favorite among SoCal anglers with songs like "Dream Paddy", "Fishing the Lupe" and "Barracuda Blues" celebrating their favorite spots and species. Their second release. "Papa was a Fishin' Man" was recorded in Nashville and featured more country-flavored and freshwater tunes like the title track and "When Tammy Does the Shimmy at the Fish Fry." The Dorado's third and final album "Fishin' Train" was also recorded in Nashville at which time Larry left the band to focus more on his solo career leaving Gary to carry on with the "fishing band."
The result was a 4 CD set by the World's Greatest Fishing Band followed by a star-studded, critically acclaimed album titled "All Gone Fishin'" that featured some of the biggest names in country music including legends George Jones, Merle Haggard, Jerry Reed, Porter Wagoner, Patty Loveless, Brad Paisley and others, all singing songs about their favorite pastime-fishing!
